June 29, 2007

xbox ps3 and wii

You have heard about them everywhere. This wasn’t just about games or gaming consoles but it was about something more than this. You must have read the reviews in almost every newspaper, magazine or ezine. This was all because the fight wasn’t about the competition between the gaming consoles but the manufacturers. With the introduction of new age games gamers witnessed some of the most unusual fights between the games. After the launch of the Microsoft Xbox 360, the whole gaming industry was in a shock to see the features of this gaming console. Powered by the software giant Microsoft, this console had everything which can be called contemporary and a geek’s delight. After Xbox release the other giants of gaming hurried to show their prowess and they launched their gaming consoles with various features and unique design. The two giants who gave competition to Xbox are Sony’s PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii.

If Xbox is a faster and trendy gaming console then you can say the Play Station is a smarter version and for Wii the word smartest aptly suits. Recently we heard news about the pricing issue of the Play Station as it is priced very high. But after the Play Station success Sony had to make something out of ordinary to sustain its success. So the launch of Play Station 3 made some remarkable change in the gaming industry. And that was the time when people almost went crazy about this game console and I can still remember

those queues outside the shop where this console was supposed to be released. And everything suddenly changed when Nintendo introduced Wii. Yes, Nintendo Wii (pronounced as ‘we’) almost allured all gamers and started making bigger headlines than the Xbox and PS3. It seemed as if the Wii is going to take up the entire market share from these gaming consoles.

Xbox 360 is powered by the IBM PowerPC based CPU and three symmetrical 3.2 GHz processor. Xbox comes with a 512 memory GDDR3 RAM and 700 MHz DDR memory. It has a 20 GB hard drive which is enabled with wireless controllers. These features have made Xbox a new generation gaming console. And in PS3 you get 60 GB hard drive. It has a built in 802.11 b/g wireless. Powered by Cell PowerPC processor this console has a 256 MB XDR Main RAM at 3.2 GHz and 256 MB GDDR3 VRAM at 700 MHz. and now comes the latest Wii which is gorged with various features. With a sleek design Nintendo Wii is the latest addition to the advanced gaming console series. Wii what seems to be a new code for gaming revolutions has a developed CPU. It has an ATI graphics chip. You get an USB 2.0 expansion ports and built in support for Wi-Fi internet access. All the controllers of Wii as wireless. Wii has a backwards compatibility with GameCube, NES, SNES and Nintendo 64. now all we can do is just wait and watch as we can’t even predict what more can follow these gaming consoles.

Windows XP or Windows Vista - Public demand

June 22, 2007

windows_xp_logo.jpgRecently we heard a lot of review about the new Microsoft Windows Vista. There wasn’t a single newspaper, TV or magazine which didn’t cover the grand introduction of the Vista. We all know that Microsoft is the undisputed king of software. If it’s a computer then it must have a Microsoft Windows operating system. Though this concept is gradually changing but you can still find people who only use Microsoft operating systems. In such scenario, Microsoft has recently launched its new all functions Microsoft Windows Vista. This operating system is been claimed to be the most updated operating system by Microsoft. Well as far as updates are concerned we can’t really comment on that but yes working with a complete new set-up is little difficult for staunch users. For less technical persons, Vista is like a difficult concept to digest. Since everyone is almost gulping this technology, so we can’t even blame Microsoft for this.

As a strict follower of Windows, I can say that Microsoft Windows has given a complete ease of use to every user. Whether you work on Windows or just have it for fun, you can get maximum pleasure working on it. So it was really difficult for people like me to change to some alien concept like a Vista. The name itself made confused like anything, and I always thought and in fact prayed that Microsoft should not omit the Windows XP. And to my prayers it was there. But it wasn’t just about me, there were many who felt the same itch when Microsoft launched the Vista. So I guess at least for a better prospect there should be a comparison between these two siblings. So here is what I got after talking to various people who have used both the operating systems. Undoubtedly Windows XP is an established player and Vista has just come to the field so it’s little early to compare them. But we can’t help if there is something new then we should find out what exactly it has.

Windows XP
You have been using it for a long time now and you are almost addicted to it. From your screen saver to word documents, Windows XP is a professional operating system which made all your works easy. After the Windows 98 and Windows 2000 operating system, Windows XP was a relief for many professionals who wanted to have a more secure and user friendly operating system. With Windows XP they got Microsoft brand with a much advance operating system so it was an all-profit deal.

Windows Vista
Well, I haven’t got anything out of the world response for this new operating system. Many people said it is quite confusing and uses many applets which are hard to decipher. Microsoft Windows Vista has some features which are identical to the Mac OS. So we concluded that this might be a new competitor to the Apple OS by Microsoft. Very few people now completely rely on Windows Vista as the major is still with Windows XP.
