Sager NP9260 Notebook Review

June 30, 2007

Sager NP9260Welcome to the world of large screen laptops. And the addition is now joined by Sager. The Sager NP9260 is an extraordinary laptop with a large display. This notebook is specially designed for the gaming crowd. This laptop has various features which are certainly quite alluring. With an expanded screen this notebook
has the most wide display screen. And this is what makes this laptop an ideal display for the gamers. If you are looking for some excitement in your gaming experience then this laptop can be just the right choice for you. With Core 2 Duo processors this notebook has good storage capacity. It has up to Nvidia GeForce Go7950GTX video-card which gives you the most exciting gaming performance.

The NP9260 is, unlike other desktops, a great LAN machine which is an all-in-one device. This desktop might feel just one complaint that is the weight as this notebook is quite heavy. You get several attachments in this notebook, the components are worth buying. You can use this notebook as a good replacement for your regular PC. This notebook uses less power and has smaller footprints than the regular desktops. Almost every gaming device consumes a minimum of 500W but the new Sager NP9260 takes at most 280K.

Design

The Sager NP 9260 looks like a very ordinary laptop with all the basic quality but one thing that attracted our attention was the weight of this laptop. This notebook is remarkably heavy. The over all dimension of this notebook is 15.5 inch width, 11.75 inch diameter and 2.35 inch height. This heavy duty gadget weighs a good 11.55 pounds with the 12-cell battery. This laptop is specially designed of sturdy plastic.

Display and Camera

The Sager NP9260 has a large 17 inch screen display. The screen has a glossy finish which is available in two resolution formats one is the WSXGA + (1680×1050) and WUXGA (1920×1200). Both the displays are quite luscious and attractive. Though the display is quite above average brightness and good contrast, but it’s quite interesting as a gaming display notebook. If you are getting the dual Go7950GTX SLI cards then you better go for the WUXGA screen as it can give you the power of two video cards.

Speakers and Sound

The new Sager NP9260 has a good sound quality with its four built-in speakers. These speakers have good loud surround sound which is clear and very exciting. Though you can get little distortion also in these speakers, but over all it is good. Toshiba Tecra X9

June 23, 2007

Toshiba is currently showing off its new 14-inch feature packed Tecra X9. The Tecra X9 is mainly for business users and for all the executive needs. This is definitely not for the heavy duty gamers relying on speed and high performance from graphic cards.

The Toshiba Tecra X9 comes in a black or silver casing which itself is very ‘executive’ and infact does look very neat. There is a built-in fingerprint reader just like the latest Lenovo series.

Other important features include, Usb 2.0 port, 1394 FireWire input, and a DVD burner. There is not much word on what processor it will run on, but most probably it would come with a Intel Core 2 Duo proc. The Tecra will have capacity to hold up to 4GB of RAM which would definitely increase the cost well over the base price.

The laptop is pretty light at a mere 2.4 kgs and the starting range is close to 1,900 euros which is definitely on the higher side compared to the Lenovo and Dell latitude products. For the base price of 1,900 euros you are likely to get a 1.66 Ghz Core 2 Duo T5500 processor. They will offer a choice of your operating system, so you can choose between Vista and your old favorite Windows XP.

Sharp Mebius PC-CW50T Laptop

June 15, 2007

Sharp has also decided to make inroads into the laptop market with its new Mebius PC-CW50T. With the launch of the new Santa Rosa chipset from Intel every manufacturer is coming out with new products even if they have the smallest upgrade. The Sharp laptop on the other hand gives a helping hand to the AMD guys by using the AMD Sempron 3400+ processor in this laptop.

The Sharp PC-CW50T comes in a sparkling white color which definitely stands out against all odds. It has a 14.1 inch screen in addition to a ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 gfx card. The laptop can be upgraded to 2GB RAM and is equipped with a 80GB hard drive. Other non-spectacular and regular features are the 802.11 b/g WiFi, Dual layer DVD burner, 4 USB 2.0 ports and Card slot.

The battery life of this is pretty low at only 1-2 hours and the price is a downer too. At USD 1,200 this definitely is a pricey laptop when you take the configuration and other things into account.
